  • Water pumping station on the Perfume River. Those guys stayed there 24/7 sending water to Eagle and I think Phu Bai. They only had a little wire around them and the noise was deafening but they were never bothered. I got there regularly to exchange pumps. I operated a mobile crane with a 50 ft. boom so as the driver turned I sat in the crane and swiveled on turns. Some times we headed to Eagle then straight thru then we found a dirt path (literally) from Hue to the site. So being young dumb and daring we (2 guys and a big noisy crane) would take the back way. The brush would sometimes scrape down the sides. Imagine alone in a loud vehicle setting upright in the open. STUPID!!! I look back on some things I did and I can have NO doubt there is a GOD who somehow is fascinated with my actions. Kind of like watching little kids who do antics that make you laugh.
