  • Seabee John O’Brien is holding a Kansas City Royals “thank you” sign in between Petty Officer Steven Powell and his wife. John spotted Petty Officer Powell’s dress blue uniform, along with a Seabee Freedom Rose that was attached to his wife’s purse. John asked for an autograph and then asked where his wife received the Freedom Rose. She said that a little boy had given it to her the week before. That little boy turned out to be John’s 5 yr. old grandson, Cruz, who had asked his mom to look through her purse for a Seabee Freedom Rose so Cruz could thank Petty Officer Powell in person for signing the National Anthem.
