  • Manuel Francis Rosa.  Often called 'Manny' or 'Pete'.  Chief Petty Officer 137th Battalion, 595th CBMU
  • Seabee logo was painted on the drum by Petty Officer Rosa.

  • Manny wrote "Old Handle Bar Hank".  This may be in Hawai'i given the building in the background.
  • One of Pete's dad's closest friends on Saipan; Broadbent.
  • Pete's dad, Manny is in the center.  The men on either side are unknown.
  • The man on the left is Herb, who helped Pete's dad restore this statue.  Manny Rosa, on the right received national press for restoring religious statues while on Saipan during his spare time.  This is the last statue prior to be restored.

In a note to my Mom:  "These long boxes have a glass bottom.  One on each side of the boat."

  • Invasion barge on the way to Cat Island, Jan. 1944.  McKee is the fella real close with the helmet.Schumaker with the stocking cap.  Carey between 'Manny' and Murtaugh, the photographer.  Behind 'Manny' is Nick, then Ward with the helmet.  Way back is Reiman (possibly Reaman).  We're sitting beside a road grader.
